This week has been hands on learning in action! In forest school, our pupils have spent the week contributing to the creation of a magnificent sensory path.

Perfect Pineapple Cake!

A Year 10 class combined creativity and culinary skills to bake a classic upside-down pineapple cake. To share their success, they designed eye-catching visual recipes for others to follow!

Beautiful Birds

7F are currently looking at the topic of birds during their art lessons. They have been studying the art work of Matt Sewell. They have produced some lovely images of his bull finches and jays.

They have also produced some fantastic artist research pages.

Brilliant Bus Route Idea!

Look at this brilliant letter independently created and drafted by Thomas Adshead...I think that we could have a politician in the making!

Dear Stagecoach Manchester,

I am writing to tell you that I have a bus route in mind, for you to process. There are not a lot of routes in my area, so it’d ease congestion.

Hi. My name is Thomas, I’m in Year 10 at CHHS  and I live on the Offerton estate, Southeast of Stockport. There is only one route connecting my area to the centre hub of Stockport, this being the 314. This new route is the perfect way to calm traffic in Offerton and on the 314. Unlike the 314, it stops at Stockport Rail station, not the interchange. It also deviates round tons of different areas and follows a range of routes that already exist. There is a detailed description below.

Route 21: Offerton - Stockport

This terminates at Stockport RAIL station, not the interchange. It follows the route of the 385, until the end of Nangreave Rd. It continues on Hillcrest Rd, then follows the path of the 314, until castle Shaw Rd, where the bus deviates down there, and the bus route terminates at Castle Shaw Rd Bus Stop, Outside the Community Centre. It then follows the route of the 876, until Lisburn Lane, where it yet again follows the path of the 314, until The Fairway, where it turns down there. It deviates down near Castle Hill High School, then down Curzon Rd, then follows the route of the 358, until the end of Dialstone Ln, where it deviates to Banks Ln and then yet again follows the route of the 314, until the end of Hall Street, where it turns left near Lidl. It then follows the 384 route until Station Rd, Where it turns left down there, and then it terminates at the rail station, ready for the return trip.

Please make this dream of mine come true, it’d be amazing, and it would ease congestion in both the Offerton area and Stockport area. It also provides access to two different schools. Dial Park Primary School and Castle Hill High School.

Please respond as soon as possible, so I know you have read and acknowledged.

Yours Faithfully,

Thomas Jareth Adshead

And Finally...

Castle Hill were lucky enough to be invited to exhibit some work in the Beautiful Things exhibition at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Here's a photograph of all of the pieces being dropped off. We submitted over 20 pieces which is amazing. I can't wait to go and see them on display. I'd like to thank all of the parents who gave permission for their child's artwork to be displayed and I hope each and every one of our pupils are proud to have their work on show. Below is a message from the curator at the gallery about the exhibition, which starts on Saturday 11th October. There are lots of events to go and see so I hope to see some of you there.
