Stockport's Short Breaks service
A 'Children with Disabilities' Social Worker will be coming into school on the morning of Thursday 24th November. She will be available to give parents and carers advice about the Short Breaks service, what it is and how to access it. She will also advise which activities are available and most suited to your child via the Stockport Local Offer.
If you are interested in finding out more, please call or email Pauline Johnston to book a 20-minute appointment. Appointments are limited, so book early.
Anti-Bullying Week
Next week is national Anti-Bullying Week , which this year has the theme of REACH OUT. The thinking behind this theme is that students, teachers, parents and carers should reach out to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
The week will kick off with Odd Socks Day on Monday 14th November, where adults and children in school are encouraged to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique. The anti-bullying theme will be addressed in lessons and form times throughout the week.
As parents and carers, we all want our children to be happy and safe and it is natural to worry about bullying - particularly if we have experienced bullying ourselves, or we think our child may be more vulnerable to bullying. The good news is you are not alone! The Anti-Bullying Alliance and its members work with children, families and schools to help keep children safe. Extra Bank Holiday
You've probably already seen in the news that Monday 8th May 2023 will be an additional bank holiday, to mark the coronation of King Charles.
Whilst we're on the subject of holidays, a quick reminder that school closes for the Christmas break at 1.00pm on Thursday 22nd December. Taxis have been made aware of this earlier pick up time.
Therapy Dog
Stevie, our therapy dog, is now a regular visitor every Friday. He splits his time between listening to students reading in the library and helping out in Pupil Support. Fortunately, he's not mentioned pay yet.... we're thinking two dog chews and a biscuit bonus if he reaches his appraisal objectives!
Have a great weekend!
