Covid update - Monday 7th February 2022
In last week's blog I mentioned that, due to Covid, we were experiencing an unprecedented level of staff absence. Unfortunately the situation has deteriorated further, 15 classroom based staff (teachers or teaching assistants) were absent today and I have just been notified of a further two staff who have tested positive for Covid and will not be in school for the remainder of the week.
Unfortunately this means that we are unable to staff all lessons and to supervise breaks and lunchtimes at a safe level. Our contingency plan is to ask specific year groups to stay off school for one day at a time, on a rota basis. Operating a rota minimises time out of school for pupils and disruption for parents and carers.
Year 8 pupils should not attend school tomorrow, Tuesday 8th February. We have chosen Year 8 to start with as that year group currently has the highest number of absent staff.

If there is no improvement in the staffing situation, then a different year group will be asked to stay off school on Wednesday 9th February. We will make that decision on Tuesday afternoon.
The Local Authority are aware of the situation and are fully supportive of the action we've been forced to take.
Please be assured that this decision has not been taken lightly and we will reassess the situation on a day by day basis.
